Gauteng Matric Class Of 2026: Against All Odds, Let No Dream Be Stolen!

The battle for the future begins in the examination room, where dreams must be protected, courage must prevail, and every learner deserves a fair opportunity to shine. As Gauteng’s matric class enters the 2026 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, the message is clear: stand firm, remain peaceful, reject dishonesty and fight for your future with integrity!
To every candidate who has sacrificed sleep, endured pressure, attended extra lessons and studied against all odds, this is your moment. May anxiety give way to confidence, fear to courage, and uncertainty to hope. May every learner walk into the examination room believing that yesterday’s struggles do not have the power to destroy tomorrow’s possibilities.

On 12 October, Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile outlined the province’s readiness for the examinations, with 203,794 candidates registered, comprising 152,527 full-time learners and 51,267 part-time candidates and repeaters. Across 77 subjects and 155 question papers, the responsibility is enormous.Security scanners, secure question-paper distribution, armed escorts and approximately 1,700 monitors form part of the reported safeguards against cheating and examination irregularities. The department also reported 2,381 examination accommodations and 19 language or mathematics concessions for eligible candidates.Academic support through Saturday classes, holiday revision camps, tutoring, the High Flyer Programme and Just-in-Time initiatives has sought to strengthen preparation. Yet the real test lies in ensuring these interventions translate into meaningful results, particularly in gateway subjects.

Following concerns about examination-paper leaks in 2025, the department expressed confidence in its security arrangements and attributed the reported leak to the national level. Such claims must remain subject to appropriate verification and accountability. Nationally, Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube and Umalusi also reported examination-readiness measures, including quality assurance, marking arrangements, monitoring and contingency planning. National figures must not be confused with Gauteng’s provincial statistics.

To our matriculants: never surrender your future to shortcuts! Arrive early, follow examination rules, manage your time and remember that integrity is worth more than an illicit mark. Parents, educators and communities must become pillars of peace, encouragement and protection.
As the examinations continue towards 26 November, may God grant our learners wisdom, strength, calm minds and protection. May every honest effort bear fruit, every challenge become a lesson, and every deserving dream find a pathway to reality.

Virtual Pulse News wishes the Class of 2026 success, peace, protection and outstanding results. Go forward with courage. Your future is worth fighting for!
