Orlando Pirates kept their Black Label Cup dream alive with a tight 1–0 win over Siwelele in a game that tested patience and nerves.

From the opening whistle, Pirates looked determined to stamp authority. They pushed high, moved the ball quickly, and kept Siwelele pinned back for long spells. Yet, despite the pressure, clear chances were wasted. Siwelele defended in numbers, closing spaces and frustrating the Buccaneers in the first half.

The second half told a similar story as Pirates continued searching for a way through. The longer the game went, the more it seemed like extra time would be needed. Siwelele grew braver, trying to catch Pirates on the counter, but their final passes lacked quality.

Just when the clash looked set to end in deadlock, substitute Mbekezeli Mbokazi found the breakthrough in the 87th minute. His sharp finish sent the Pirates crowd into celebration and sealed a deserved but hard-fought win.

Pirates’ strength was their refusal to slow down, showing hunger even late in the game. The midfield worked tirelessly, feeding attackers who kept stretching Siwelele’s backline. However, their main weakness was poor finishing earlier, which nearly cost them.

For Siwelele, the night showed defensive bravery and organisation. But without a cutting edge upfront, they could not punish Pirates.

In the end, the Buccaneers sailed through with determination and character. It was not their most fluent display, but the late winner proved enough to carry them into the next stage.
