South Africa’s biggest sneaker culture competition returns, with one sneakerhead set to unlock the ultimate vault and be crowned King of Kicks 2026.

Following a standout competition that captivated sneaker lovers across the country, Russian Bear and YFM have officially announced the return of King of Kicks – the ultimate celebration of sneaker culture, individuality and next-level ambition.

Back for another edition, King of Kicks 2026 promises to be bigger, bolder and louder, giving sneakerheads across South Africa another opportunity to prove they have what it takes to earn the crown. At stake is the legendary sneaker vault – loaded with some of the world’s most sought-after kicks – and the coveted title of King of Kicks 2026.

More than just a competition, King of Kicks has established itself as a platform that celebrates those driving culture forward. Built on the foundations of style, hustle and self-expression, King of Kicks shines a spotlight on those who understand that sneakers are more than footwear – they’re a statement of identity.

Over the coming months, kick lovers will have multiple opportunities to enter the competition through a series of exciting activations, exclusive experiences and on-air moments with YFM. Sneaker enthusiasts will battle it out, showcasing their knowledge, passion and love for sneaker culture, with only a select few earning a place in the highly anticipated finale.

The competition will culminate in an exclusive live event later this year, where finalists will go head-to-head for the chance to unlock the legendary vault and walk away with one of the most coveted sneaker collections in the country.

Siviwe Mgolodela, Senior Brand Manager for Russian Bear, says the return of King of Kicks reflects the brand’s continued commitment to youth culture and creating meaningful cultural moments. “King of Kicks is more than a competition – it is a celebration of the communities shaping culture every day. Through music, fashion and sneaker culture, we’re creating a platform that recognises creativity, confidence and the drive to always push yourself to the next level. We’re excited to bring back the vault and can’t wait to crown South Africa’s next King of Kicks.”

King of Kicks has become one of Russian Bear’s flagship cultural platforms, reconnecting the brand with sneaker, music and street culture while creating authentic experiences that resonate with a new generation of consumers.

This year, the competition returns with even greater ambition, more cultural moments and one question on everyone’s mind: Who will unlock the vault?
