PIRATES SUFFER PAINFUL DEFEAT IN CONGO

Orlando Pirates had a very disappointing day on the pitch as they were beaten 3-0 by St Éloi Lupopo in the CAF Champions League clash played in Lubumbashi, DR Congo.

How It Went Wrong

Pirates were caught sleeping early in the game. Just five minutes in, Lupopo’s Wanet Kashala found the back of the net, putting the home side 1-0 up.

Pirates couldn’t find their rhythm on the artificial pitch. The home crowd was loud, the pressure was high, and the Buccaneers looked uncomfortable.

With 20 minutes left, a free kick dropped kindly for Lupopo’s Dramane Kambou, who didn’t waste the chance. That made it 2-0.

In stoppage time, Lupopo struck again, wrapping up the match with a third goal — a bitter end to a tough night.

What This Means for Pirates

Losing by three goals means the Pirates will need a miracle in the return leg back home in South Africa.

This loss also breaks their strong winning streak. They had won 10 games in a row before this match.

Pirates didn’t look like themselves. The defence was shaky, and the attack couldn’t create real danger.

Quick Match Lessons

Don’t start slow. Letting in a goal early puts you under pressure, especially in African away games.

Adapt to conditions fast. The pitch and the noise clearly rattled the Pirates.

Finishing is key. They had a few chances but couldn’t turn them into goals.

No time to feel sorry. They have one more shot to turn this around at home — but they’ll need something special.
