Market Context: Notable Absences
A number of well-known performance hatchbacks do not rank in the top 5; the Toyota GR Yaris and GR Corolla, which are siblings, produce 210 kW from their turbocharged 3-cylinder engines and thus end up just below the threshold.
The 245 kW Volkswagen Golf 8.5 R has not yet officially reached the local market, whereas the 235 kW FL5-series Honda Civic Type R was recently withdrawn from sale in South Africa.
