FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION AND CLONING OF CONTACT DETAILS OF JOBURG SPEAKER OF COUNCIL

Table of Content

The City of Joburg Office of the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Margaret Arnolds – has become aware of fraudulent communication from individuals purporting to act on behalf of the Speaker in matters relating to the ongoing legal dispute involving Marble Towers and the City of Joburg.

It has further come to the attention of the Office that the Speaker’s contact number appears to have been cloned and unlawfully used to communicate with external parties, including representatives associated with Marble Towers.

The Office wishes to place on record that Cllr Margaret Arnolds has not authorised any individual to engage in discussions, negotiations, or representations regarding the matter, including any purported attempts to facilitate an out-of-court settlement or agreement.

The Speaker of Council does not involve herself in administrative, legal, supply chain, or operational matters of the City, as these fall within the mandate of the Executive and the relevant administrative departments of the municipality. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false, misleading, and constitute a serious act of impersonation and possible fraud.

Members of the public, stakeholders, and affected parties are urged to exercise caution and to verify any suspicious communications claiming to originate from the Office of the Speaker.

The Office remains committed to protecting the integrity of the institution and addressing any attempts to misrepresent the Office of the Speaker or improperly influence matters relating to the City of Johannesburg.
