The 2025 South African Future Trust (SAFT) Summit at the Sandton Convention Centre brought together business leaders, policy makers, and young entrepreneurs to discuss new ideas for South Africa’s growing SME sector. First National Bank (FNB) played a major role as one of the event partners, supporting small businesses to connect, learn, and grow.

FNB sponsored over 40 exhibition stands, helping business owners meet investors and build networks. Janis Robson, FNB’s Head of Business Development, said: “FNB’s partnership with the SAFT began during Covid with our contribution to the business-support fund. We value the summit’s alignment with our efforts to help SMEs in a meaningful and impactful way.”

Among the exhibitors were Warehouseboys, winners of the Ayoba Youth Innovation Competition, who showcased their creative business solutions. Stella’s Bead Works, known for turning handmade beadwork into a growing local enterprise, also joined the summit under FNB’s SME development programme. Both businesses inspired delegates with stories of hard work, creativity, and community upliftment.

Through its involvement, FNB continues to show its belief in the power of youth entrepreneurship and innovation. The bank’s goal is to make it easier for small businesses to find opportunities, build partnerships, and access financial support.

As Janis Robson added, “Our role is to create pathways for the next generation of entrepreneurs. When small businesses succeed, communities thrive, and our country grows.”
