Johannesburg to Host Groundbreaking Symposium on the Future of Water-Efficient Sanitation

City leaders, innovators, researchers and development partners unite to accelerate sustainable sanitation solutions for South Africa’s growing urban communities.

Johannesburg, South Africa – The City of Johannesburg, together with the Department of Water and Sanitation, Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), South Africa Local Government Association (SALGA), Water Partnerships Office (WPO), Water Research Commission (WRC) and Planact, will convene a Symposium on Advancing Water-Efficient Sanitation Solutions on 30-31 July 2026.

The symposium comes at a crucial time as municipalities seek resilient and water-efficient solutions capable of meeting the needs of expanding urban populations while advancing sustainability goals. Through expert presentations, panel discussions and a dedicated exhibition of innovative water-efficient sanitation systems, participants will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the innovations reshaping the sanitation landscape in South Africa.
