The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) has earned top honours at the prestigious 2025 Reside Summit Awards, proudly receiving the coveted Platinum Award. This achievement builds on last year’s Silver win and reaffirms JOSHCO’s commitment to transforming communities through innovative and inclusive housing solutions.

The summit opened with powerful keynote addresses by Executive Mayor Cllr Dada Morero and MMC for Human Settlements Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso, setting the tone for rich discussions on urban development.

JOSHCO Acting CEO Nokwazi Mtshali joined a high-level panel alongside Human Settlements Executive Director Oupa Nkoane and Development Planning’s Eric Raboshakga to explore strategies for future-focused housing. Dr Karabo Semenya later delivered a compelling presentation outlining the City’s integrated housing services, from rental solutions to community development.

Ekhaya Gardens was honoured in the Social Housing Development of the Year category, a proud moment that recognises JOSHCO’s role in building sustainable, dignified, and connected communities.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we remain energised and committed to shaping futures and improving lives through quality, affordable housing near transport links, jobs, and key services. We thank our stakeholders and community partners—together, we’re not just building homes, we’re nurturing dreams.

Our developments serve as a blueprint for creating liveable cities, strategically designed to offer affordable options close to essential transport nodes, jobs, and essential services.

“A heartfelt gratitude for the collective efforts that have brought us to this moment. It is the unwavering support of our stakeholders at large and community members that propels us forward in our mission. Together, we are not only constructing homes but also nurturing dreams and building futures,” said Mtshali.
