Nomcebo Nzimakwe has made it her business to make South Africa a better country to live in.
The founder and director of Sky Drop from Gamalakhe township in KZN, said her business was a solution to water crisis in South Africa.
“My dream is to have solar power water generators in South Africa and beyond our borders,” she said.
The South Coast entrepreneur said investing in this kind of business would not only solve Mzansi’s water crisis, but it will also create lots of jobs, for many unemployed graduates in the country.
When drinking water becomes unavailable communities like Gamalakhe and a lot more around the country suffer, and that’s when the idea to establish a business came to her mind.
She took part in Standard Bank 2025 Kasi SME National Challenge.
“Winning was humbling on my side. But hearing my name. When they called my name. I felt like they called someone else,” she said.

“I didn’t stand up, and then they started clapping, and they were like, screaming my name. Sky Drop. I was like, oh, my goodness, it’s me.”

She remained seated when her name was called, not once, not twice BUT three times.

She started the business in 2021. It is an eco-friendly water business producing potable water through atmospheric water generators, supplying clean and healthy drinking water to households, communities, and businesses.
