Kaizer Chiefs is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Springs Home Sweepers Football Club, marking a significant step in the continued support and development of women’s football in South Africa.
The Club’s involvement in the women’s game has always been a priority. Over the past few years, Chiefs and Home Sweepers have cultivated a collaborative relationship, sharing insights and working closely to uplift the women’s football landscape.
This newly formalised partnership will continue in that spirit, with a focus on strategic and technical development to ensure sustained success both on and off the pitch.
The selection of Home Sweepers as a partner club is especially meaningful. The Springs based club is owned by Joseph ‘Skeshekeshe’ Mkhonza, a former Amakhosi player, and father of the late Siphiwe Mkhonza, who also played for the Glamour Boys.
“I am excited to see this partnership coming to fruition. Equally, I am happy that finally we have an agreement with the women’s team, Home Sweepers, owned by our very own Kaizer Chiefs legend, Joseph Mkhonza.

Jessica Motaung, Chiefs’ Commercial and Marketing Director and an influential figure in women’s football through her roles with SAFA and CAF structures, was instrumental in establishing this partnership.
“We are thrilled to formalise this relationship with Home Sweepers. This partnership is about more than just football, it’s about creating a sustainable ecosystem for women’s football in South Africa.
Aligning women’s clubs with professional structures like Chiefs is vital for the growth and professionalism of the women’s game, and we are proud to play a role in that journey,” said Motaung.
She further emphasised the long term vision behind the collaboration.
“This partnership will not only benefit the players on the field but also contribute to the broader development of women’s football through shared resources, mentorship and visibility. We believe in the potential of this project and are committed to its success.”
Mkhonza, a former Banyana Banyana coach with a long-standing commitment to the women’s game, echoed this excitement, noting that the involvement of a club like Chiefs creates new avenues for growth and visibility in Springs, a town east of Johannesburg, and beyond.

Home Sweepers played their first match under the new partnership this past weekend against Wits University at Sturrock Park. Their next fixture is a home game against Blue Birds Football Academy at the Kwa Thema Stadium on 13th July 2025 at 15h00.
