The Reboost Energy Drink powered Lerato Lamola Winter Games came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday 28 June in Tembisa with Mudagasi crowned champions after defeating 012 Ayifun’Wena 6-5 on penalties following a thrilling goalless final.

The month-long tournament, powered by Reboost Energy Drink for the first time, showcased the abundance of football talent within local communities, while creating meaningful opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Following a closely contested final that ended 0-0 after regulation time, Mudagasi held their nerve in the penalty shootout to secure the title and walk away with the R150 000.00 winners’ prize money.

This year’s partnership with Reboost Energy Drink elevated the tournament’s experience both on and off the field. Throughout the competition, supporters enjoyed exciting Reboost fan activations, with lucky fans winning a range of prizes that added to the festive matchday atmosphere.

Beyond fan engagement, the partnership also contributed to local economic development by empowering community vendors, who were afforded the opportunity to sell Reboost Energy Drink products throughout the tournament. The initiative created additional income-generating opportunities for them, while ensuring the tournament’s impact extended well beyond the football pitch.

Tournament founder Lerato Lamola praised the success of this year’s edition and the value brought by the partnership with Reboost Energy Drink.

“Our partnership with Reboost Energy Drink elevated the experience. From the players and supporters to the local entrepreneurs who benefited from trading opportunities throughout the tournament. Congratulations to Mudagasi on a well-deserved victory and thank you to every team, fan, partner and volunteer who made this edition such a memorable success.”

Former Orlando Pirates captain and Reboost Energy Drink brand ambassador, Innocent Maela said the quality of football over the last month reaffirmed the importance of investing in grassroots competitions, while also praising Reboost Energy Drink for creating opportunities beyond the game.

“Every year you come here and you see players with incredible talent who simply need opportunities and platforms to showcase what they can do. That’s what makes the Lerato Lamola Winter Games such an important tournament because it gives young footballers hope and a stage to dream bigger.

What’s been equally impressive this year is seeing how Reboost Energy Drink’s involvement has gone beyond football. By creating opportunities for local vendors and businesses to participate, they’ve shown that investing in community football can also create real economic impact”, concluded Maela.

Tournament founder Lerato Lamola expressed his appreciation for Reboost Energy Drink’s partnership, saying collaborations of this nature strengthen the tournament’s ability to identify and nurture emerging talent, with this year’s edition already seeing two players earn professional contracts.

“Your partnership played a significant role in making the tournament a remarkable success.  One of the highlights of this year’s tournament was the continued pathway it provides for aspiring footballers. We are proud to share that two players who participated in this year’s edition have since secured professional contracts. Matome Mmolai has signed with Orlando Pirates, while Thabang “Trashyncky” Mabena has joined Milford FC. These achievements reflect the growing stature of the tournament and the opportunities made possible through the support of valued partners like Reboost Energy Drink”, said Lamola.
