Mzansi Magic’s new telenovela, Nyala O…has left Mzansi audiences saying ‘I do’ after its first week, leaving viewers making a strong commitment to the 7pm Mon-Wed timeslot!

Following this week’s first three episodes Mzansi viewers have taken to social media to share their excitement and anticipation for more of what’s to come. Looking at the week’s online reaction and engagements, these have been positive with many viewers commending the show’s cinematic production, the cast performance as well as the anticipated direction of the storyline…especially after its first premiere week of heated drama!

Nyala O…is about three married women who are navigating the realities of their marriages dealing with the good, the bad and the ugly of it all! The show has sparked lively conversations on relationships and marriage on the digital platforms. Here are some of the social media reactions and some of the sentiments viewers have expressed from the very first episode of Nyala O…:

  • “I’m sold…What a show!”
  • “This episode had so many bombs! I can’t wait for the next one”
  • “I’m already hooked and already looking forward to the next episodes. Wow man!”
  • “Lmao I am so hooked #NyalaOMzansi”

And of course, the conversations about the subject matter – marriage- are already heating up, like:

  • “Oh sana, the fact that these ladies look like they are happy in their marriages but are all going through something…”
  • “Who do you think plays the biggest role in supporting a healthy marriage – family or friends?”
  • “Yooh, marriage can test you! Imagine 15 years of your sweat & blood down the drain. I can’t wait to watch her story unfold.”

Nyala O…Executive Producer Mmamitse Thibedi says they are very excited about the positive response the show has received so far.  “From the beginning, our goal was to tell stories that resonate with South African audiences because it’s either we can relate with one of the characters or know someone with a similar story. We wanted to spark meaningful conversations about love, family, careers and the many roles we navigate in our everyday lives. We hope that as the show unfolds, viewers will evolve with the characters, connect with their journeys and ultimately fall in love with them.”

If this online buzz from just the first week is anything to go by in determining how the stories unfold, Nyala O…definitely looks like it has all the ingredients of a Mzansi must-watch telenovela. And the fact that it plays only three times a week has some bothered…like this viewer who reflected the views of many online: “I know we are only 3 episodes in, but I need Nyala O…to play Monday-Friday please.”

As one viewer said: “As if @MzansiMagic doesn’t already have me in a chokehold with #KwaBabaMzansi and #InimbaMzansi, they come with #NyalaOMzansi…okay guys it’s fine!”

Stay tuned in to Mzansi Magic’s new addition, Nyala O… airing Monday-Wednesday at 7pm and also join the conversation about the comings and goings of lenyalo! Missed the first three episodes? You can watch them all on DStv Catch Up.
