Orlando Pirates showed their strength with a solid 3-0 win over Chippa United on 31 August 2025 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The Buccaneers controlled the match from the start and never allowed Chippa a way back.

The first goal came early when Patrick Maswanganyi punished a mistake from the Chippa goalkeeper in the 10th minute. That early strike gave Pirates confidence, and they continued pressing forward. Just before the break, Deon Hotto doubled the lead after good team build-up. In the second half, Tshepang Moremi sealed the game with a neat finish, turning the scoreline into a comfortable three-goal advantage.

Oswin Appollis was a standout performer, providing two assists and causing problems for the home side with his speed and creativity. Evidence Makgopa also added muscle up front, linking play well. Maswanganyi, despite missing a penalty after halftime, remained a constant danger and showed why he is one of Pirates’ key men.

For Chippa United, it was a night to forget. Their defense struggled under pressure, and errors cost them dearly. They lacked the sharpness and belief needed to compete.

This victory gave Pirates their third straight league win, moving them to fifth on the table with nine points, and adding momentum ahead of the MTN8 final.
