On Thursday, 24 September 2026, the inaugural Kurra Cup will bring a structured, community-driven football festival to the region, emphasising civic resilience and the restorative social function of township sports.
The event promises to breathe new life into the local sporting landscape, transforming the renowned community pitches into a vibrant arena of hope, skill, and collective joy.Inspired by historical blueprints such as the 1992 Philly’s Games in Tembisa, a tournament famously established to broker peace between rival factions through sport, the upcoming Heritage Day event aims to foster a similar spirit of unity and cultural pride within the Sedibeng district.

For the young players lacing up their boots on the Evaton Grounds, having a national icon watching from the touchline serves as a powerful reminder that their dreams are entirely valid and achievable.
