In the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day, the Scorpion Kings Live team spent Thursday, 16 July, giving back to the community through a heartfelt visit to Jehovah Jirah Orphanage in Soshanguve.

Joined by Amapiano artists Thatohatsi, Nicole Elocin, Dadaman, Dynamic Duo, Myztro, LeeArt, Soweto’s Finest and others, the team dedicated well over the symbolic 67 minutes to serving the children and staff at the orphanage through meaningful acts of kindness and community service.

The day was filled with purpose as the team cleaned and painted the orphanage, played games with the children, and spent quality time creating moments of joy and connection. The artists also took time to encourage and motivate the children, reminding them to dream big, work hard, and believe in their potential.

Hosting the initiative in Soshanguve carried special significance, with the township continuing to play an important role in the story of the Scorpion Kings and the Amapiano movement. The Mandela Day initiative was an opportunity to give back to a community that has helped shape South African music and culture.

More than just commemorating Mandela Day, the initiative reflected the spirit behind this year’s Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium – a celebration of unity, community, and the people who continue to drive the culture forward. While the event is known for bringing thousands together through music, the team believes that making a meaningful impact beyond the stage is just as important.

As anticipation builds for one of South Africa’s biggest live music events, the Scorpion Kings Live team remains committed to creating moments that extend beyond entertainment and leave a lasting impact in the communities they touch.

The countdown now continues to Scorpion Kings Live 2026, taking place on 19 September at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, where over 70 000 fans will gather for a historic celebration of Amapiano, culture, and community.
