SCORPION KINGS LIVE SELLS 70 000 TICKETS IN ONE WEEK – ON TRACK TO BECOME SECOND BIGGEST SHOW IN FNB STADIUM HISTORY

In a powerful display of Amapiano’s unstoppable rise, Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium has officially sold over 70 000 tickets in just one week, following unprecedented demand that saw more than 500 000 fans queue to secure tickets.

Tickets for the highly anticipated event went on sale on 5 May, and within seven days, 70 000 tickets have been sold – marking one of the fastest-selling stadium concerts in South African history. Set to take place on 19 September 2026, the event is already being positioned as a defining cultural moment on the global music calendar.

From the moment tickets opened, the response was nothing short of extraordinary. Online queues on Webtickets surged to half a million users, with fans logging in from across the country and beyond, all determined to be part of this historic experience. The scale of demand – more than six times the number of tickets sold – signals a major milestone not only for the Scorpion Kings, but for African live entertainment at large.

As 70 000 tickets are sold, Scorpion Kings Live is now on track to become the second biggest concert ever hosted at FNB Stadium, following U2’s historic show, which drew a crowd of approximately 88 000 fans.

In a bid to reach this milestone, the Scorpion Kings team has officially submitted an application to release an additional 10 000 tickets, which would take the total capacity closer to that record-breaking figure – a move that reflects both the scale of demand and the ambition behind this year’s show.

The Scorpion Kings have extended their gratitude to the fans who made this moment possible, acknowledging that without their patience, energy, and commitment – from early morning queues to late-night waits – this historic achievement would not have been possible.

Reflecting on the overwhelming response, DJ Maphorisa said, “The love has been on another level. Seeing fans show up and stay with us all the way just to get tickets means everything. We don’t take that for granted – this moment is because of them.”

Kabza De Small added, “We’re grateful to every single person who waited and showed us love. That patience, that support – this is what ‘A Family Affair’ is about. This is bigger than us, it’s for the culture and for the people.”

Curated by the Scorpion Kings, the show has evolved into more than just a concert. It is a cultural phenomenon – a gathering that captures the essence of a sound that has transcended borders and brought people together across continents.

This year’s theme, Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair, speaks directly to that sense of unity. It celebrates the extended Amapiano family – from the artists and collaborators to the fans who continue to carry the movement forward.

As momentum continues to build, fans can expect a world-class production, an electrifying lineup, and an immersive stadium experience that reflects the scale and global influence of Amapiano today.

Further announcements, including updates on additional ticket releases and special moments, will be revealed in the coming weeks as the countdown to 19 September continues.

One thing is certain – history is already being made.
