The Sandton Convention Centre was alive with flavour and elegance as the Standard Bank WineX Festival returned.Known as South Africa’s premier wine event, WineX once again brought together winemakers, connoisseurs, and casual wine lovers for two unforgettable evenings of tasting and discovery.

Guests were welcomed into a world of aroma and taste, where over 120 exhibitors and more than 700 wines from leading Cape estates filled the hall. From bold reds and crisp whites to sparkling Cap Classiques and imported labels, there was something for every palate. The festival also offered a selection of gourmet treats – fine cheeses, olives, chocolates, and charcuterie – turning each sip into a rich sensory journey.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the Tasting Theatre, a more intimate space where guests engaged directly with winemakers. Here, stories behind the bottles came to life – the soil, the seasons, and the artistry that gives every glass its character.

Running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event maintained a relaxed yet sophisticated mood, encouraging responsible enjoyment. Attendees were reminded that one glass of wine counts as one unit of alcohol and that safety remains as important as celebration.

From first-time tasters to long-time enthusiasts, WineX 2025 offered more than just wine – it delivered connection, culture, and a shared appreciation for South Africa’s winemaking excellence. Each pour celebrated not only the art of wine but also the joy of good company and great taste
