Stellenbosch FC have advanced to a second consecutive MTN8 final after recording a 1-1 (3-1 aggregate) win over Sekhukhune United.

Last season’s runners-up, Stellenbosch FC will be looking to right the wrongs of the past after reaching a second consecutive MTN8 final with a resounding 3-1 aggregate win over Sekhukhune United on Saturday evening.

Holding a two-goal advantage from the first leg, courtesy of goals from Kazie Enyinnaya and Devin Titus at Danie Craven Stadium, Stellies headed into the second leg in Polokwane in a commanding position and with the knowledge that an away goal would all but end the tie.

That proved to be the case as the team from the Cape Winelands wasted little time in solidifying their advantage, netting that all-important goal in the 23rd minute through Mthetheleli Mthiyane.

The midfielder, who signed for the club earlier this month from Milford FC, let loose with a powerful effort from range to score his first goal for Stellenbosch.

Babina Noko rallied admirably and managed to pull a goal back through Siphesihle Mkhize in the second half, but the writing was ultimately on the wall as the Maroons saw out the tie to advance to the showpiece finale.
