TheMember of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso, will officially hand over 64 newly completed social housing units at Riverside View Phase 4 on 1 August 2026.
The handover forms part of the City of Johannesburg’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to safe, quality and affordable rental housing.
Delivered by the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO), the project reflects the entity’s commitment to efficient delivery, with the completion and handover of ERF 2634 achieved ahead of schedule.
The 64 units will provide families with secure and dignified accommodation in a well-located community that offers convenient access to public transport, schools and shopping facilities, while a police station and clinic are within easy commuting distance.
MMC Mabaso said the completion of the development demonstrates the City’s continued commitment to improving living conditions and increasing access to well-located housing opportunities.
“Every new home delivered strengthens our resolve to build inclusive communities where residents can live with dignity and access opportunities that improve their quality of life. Through JOSHCO, we remain focused on increasing the supply of affordable rental housing across Johannesburg,” said Cllr Mabaso.

The Riverside View development continues to make steady progress, with construction of a further 320 social housing units on ERF 2869 remaining on schedule. Completion is expected in early September 2026, after which JOSHCO will begin the allocation process ahead of the official launch of the additional units, further increasing the City’s affordable rental housing stock.
The Riverside View project forms part of JOSHCO’s broader mandate to provide well-managed, affordable rental housing that promotes social inclusion, improves access to economic opportunities and supports the development of sustainable human settlements.
