A New Capsule Celebrating Artists, Their Crews, and Africa’s Creative Rise

Africa Fashion International (AFI) will launch the exclusive Crew Collection on Sunday, 14 December. This limited-edition capsule honours the artists, creatives, and behind-the-scenes teams fuelling Africa’s creative and cultural rise.

Designed by House of Nala (HON) Atelier – the modern luxury brand known for its Sandton City pop-up and growing online presence – the new collection is set to debut on one of the country’s biggest music stages, the South African Music Awards (SAMAs).

The HON Crew Collection celebrates artists and the crews who support them, while inviting young people to shape the culture they are already defining through fashion, art, music, and sport.

“Africa’s creative economy has been largely built from within, driven by young people in fashion, music, art, and innovation,” says Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Founder of AFI. “They’re generating new wealth for themselves but also for the continent. The Made-in-Africa movement is, at its core, a movement led by the continent’s creative youth and this capsule pays tribute to their leadership.”

The collection captures the optimism and energy of Africa’s rising generation who are driving the continent forward.

“Fashion is a silent but powerful medium to speak about the issues we care about,” says Qhawekazi Mazaleni, the newly crowned 2025 Miss South Africa. “I’m excited to be dressed by House of Nala on the SAMAs red carpet, wearing the best of Africa’s creativity, sustainability, and craftsmanship”.

AFI has long positioned itself at the intersection of fashion and other creative industries.

“Teko Modise, recently named the Best-Dressed Classic Man by GQ South Africa, has used fashion to build a new form of social capital beyond his soccer career,” explains Andre Constable, Retail Manager for HON. “Fashion has the power to inspire and elevate culture, particularly youth culture, regardless of the industry you’re in.”
