BETWAY has officially announced Movers FC from South Africa and Amanandos FC from Botswana as the two winning teams in its Manchester City Play on the Pitch competition, an initiative designed to celebrate local amateur football and give community players the opportunity of a lifetime.

The competition invited amateur and community football teams from both countries to submit short videos capturing the essence of who they are, their unity, passion and what football means to their communities. The response highlighted the depth of talent and love for the game at local level, making the final selection both challenging and inspiring.

Movers FC, based in Phiri, Soweto, secured their place with a powerful entry that told the story of a team deeply rooted in community football. Made up of players from varied backgrounds, Movers FC has never had the opportunity to showcase their talent outside of Gauteng. Their trip to Manchester represents a career‑defining moment to compete on an international stage.

Amanandos FC from Botswana earned their winning spot through a dynamic video submission that showcased the club’s history, discipline and commitment to preparation ahead of important fixtures. Their story reflects the dedication and pride found in community football structures across Botswana. The strength and talent within the squad promise a competitive and memorable encounter against their South African counterparts.

Commenting on the initiative, Jason Shield, Head of Sponsorship at Betway Africa, said, “The Manchester City Play on the Pitch competition celebrates amateur football and the passion found in local communities.

As part of the experience, both teams will depart for Manchester on 17th of May, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of elite football. During the trip, the players will take part in a training session at the Joie Stadium and experience professional matchday preparation before going head-to-head on the on the 20th of May.
